The UFC recently promoted another “package” of layoffs among the athletes on its roster. And, this time, the list, published on the former fighter's official website B.J. Penn, features a former member of TUF Brasil, the middleweight Rick Monster.

Monstro, a participant in the heavyweight fight at TUF Brazil 3 in 2014, reached the semifinals of the program. Inside the house, he won “Cabo Job” by submission and lost to Vitor miranda in the fight that was worth a place in the decision. In the event that marked the finals of the reality show, Monster faced Marcos Foot, but ended up being knocked out just 20 seconds into the fight. Afterwards, he moved down to the middleweight division, but suffered another setback in a lukewarm Brazilian duel against Ildemar Marajó.
In addition to Monstro, Jake Lindsey, Ruan Potts, Andy Enz, Josh Shockley, Patrick Walsh, Josh Copeland and another Brazilian, Rodrigo de Lima, were also released. Interestingly, also nicknamed “Monster”, Rodrigo lost the two fights he had in the Octagon, falling to Neil Magny and Efrain Escudero.
