Things got heated between fighters who were once training partners. The challenger for the middleweight title (up to 83,9 kg.) Sean Strickland distilled his hatred for Khamzat Shimaev on the eve of UFC 312, when the American faces Dricus du Plessis in the main fight. The trigger inaugurated an exchange of barbs with personal attacks involving family, political positioning and accusations of crimes.

“We need to talk about Mr. Chimaev. Let’s talk about this piece of shit. I keep hearing ‘Chimaev this, Chimaev that,’ but what does history and facts say about Chimaev? You’re the media, you should know this,” Strickland said at a news conference.

From then on, there was a succession of attacks on 'Borz's' honor. The insults included the fighter's relationship with Chechen dictator Ramzan Kadyro, scams with bitcoins and nationality.

“Chimaev fled Chechnya with his family because of an oppressive dictator and warlord who was killing people indiscriminately. Don’t hate him, it’s your country. He comes back to Chechnya and comes back to Chechnya because someone wants to buy him a G-Wagon and he’s like, ‘Oh yeah! I’ll be that whore. I’ll bend the knee for you, man. I like f*cking G-Wagons!’ (…) You know what? I think the US government sees him as a terrorist now. Why? Because people are being murdered all the time in Chechnya, and they completely violate human rights.” Sean Strickland.

“Now he’s hiding… and now what does he do? He has a Bitcoin scam and he’s scamming all his fans. Let me tell you something, I had the same Bitcoin scam offer for me. It was like $100.000-$200.000. I was like, f*ck it, man. I’m not going to scam my fans. I don’t need money that badly. But that’s what Chimaev did,” he said.

Chimaev's response to Strickland came quickly

Soon after Strickland's statements, Khamzat Shimaev was the social networks in response. With an old photo of the American next to his father, 'Borz' mocked the statements with a family attack.

"PWhy are you crying all the time, honey? Daddy didn’t give you any love or he showed you too much love,” Chimaev captioned the post.
