Scheduled to fight for the belt in UFC 312 this Saturday (08th), Sean Strickland summoned again Alex Poatán to be in his corner in the rematch against Dricus Du Plessis. Despite his good relationship with the Brazilian, 'Tarzan' surprised everyone and said he had never been able to talk to his training partner.
“He will be (in my corner). Alex is a great guy. We don’t speak English, it doesn’t matter. We don’t talk to each other. We just spar all the time, but we’ve never had a conversation. It’s just like, ‘Call me,’” Strickland said with a laugh during a conversation with Michael Bisping.

Keeping an eye on the situation, Du Plessis mocked Poatan's presence in his opponent's corner and questioned the Brazilian's relevance during the fight that will take place in Australia. Despite the situation, Alex and Sean record positive moments on social media and count on each other during preparations for their respective UFC fights.

Former rivals Poatan and Strickland faced each other in 2022. At the time, the Brazilian was a newcomer to the Ultimate and was hoping to achieve his dream title fight. The favorite among bookmakers for the duel, the American chose to accept a stand-up fight and ended up being knocked out in the first round.
