Impatient with indecision Ilia Topuria, Alexander Volkanovsky used the spotlight to give his rival an ultimatum. Aware that the featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg) plans to change categories to venture into the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg), the Australian demanded that his executioner not waste his time and quickly inform the UFC about what he is going to do.
“If the UFC wants it (Topuria at lightweight) and they can do it, then OK, go ahead. But if they can’t do it, stop wasting time and let’s (fight),” Volkanovski said in an interview with Main Event TV.

Seeking revenge for his defeat to the Spanish-Georgian, Volkanovski has been tirelessly asking for a rematch for the featherweight title. Inactive since being knocked out in UFC 298, the fighter awaits an official decision from the Ultimate on who his next fight in the octagon will be against.

Recently, in information obtained first-hand by SUPER FIGHTS, it was revealed that the UFC is working to have Volkanovski face Diego lopes in the next appearance of both athletes. It was not reported whether the eventual duel will be valid for the category belt.
Undefeated in his career, Topuria and his coach have already highlighted the difficulty the athlete has in reaching 66kg to perform in the category he currently reigns in.
