At 32, Kevin Lee raised concerns among his fans after his training session was posted on social media. During a sparring session with a partner from the Kill Cliff gym in Miami (USA), the veteran received a hard counterattack and ended up on the canvas after unsuccessfully trying to apply a flying knee. While still on the ground, the athlete was rescued by Robbie Lawler (see below).
Responsible for the counterattack, Azerbaijani athlete Mirali Huseynov was harshly criticized by internet users for allegedly applying a blow with excessive force. The recording also shows the fighter walking away, without offering any help to the former UFC fighter. Known for his knockout power, the Azerbaijani has won three straight professional MMA victories, two of which were by quick means, in the first round.

New hire at GFL, Kevin Lee is preparing to debut in the new MMA organization. As part of the New York team, the fighter will continue to fight in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg) and expects to fight again in the near future.
The American is currently coming off a victory, after failing to be successful in his return to the UFC, when he was finished in less than a minute by Rinat Fakhretdinov in July 2023.
