Igor Araújo faces Sean Strickland at UFC FN 72, in July

After suffering his first defeat in the octagon, in September last year, to George Sullivan in Brasília (DF), the Brazilian based in the United States Igor Araújo already knows who his opponent will be in search of rehabilitation. In July, Araújo will face the North American Sean Strickland at UFC Fight Night 72.

At 34 years old, Igor Araújo has a professional record of 25 wins, seven losses and one unsuccessful fight. The athlete from the “Jackson-Wink MMA” gym, the same as the light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, was one of the participants in the The Ultimate Fighter 16, having been part of the Shane carwin. In the reality show, Igor was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Colton Smith, who ended up becoming champion of the tournament.

The Brazilian's opponent, the North American Sean Strickland, 24 years old, will also enter the octagon with an eye on recovery. On February 22nd, in Porto Alegre (RS), Strickland experienced his first setback in his career, when he was surpassed by the Argentine Santiago Ponzinibbio in a unanimous decision by the jurors. In his career, “Tarzan”, as he is known, has a record of 15 wins and one defeat.

UFC Fight Night 72 takes place on July 15th at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego (USA). In the main fight of the night, the former Strikeforce champion Josh thomson will face TUF 13 winner Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson.
