The possibility surprised many fans and also Volkov himself.
A source close to the Russian heavyweight revealed to SUPER FIGHTS that the fighter reacted with surprise to speculation of a fight with Alex Poatán and assured that there is no talk of him being the Brazilian's next opponent.

Former Bellator and M-1 champion, Alexander Volkov has competed in the UFC heavyweight division since 2016, but has never reached a title shot in the organization. The Russian is currently ranked third in the rankings and had a four-fight winning streak interrupted by a split decision loss to Cyryl Gane, in December.
