UFC plans to marry Rousey x Correia for event in Rio de Janeiro

The UFC plans to put together a strong card for the pay-per-view to be held in Brazil in 2015. According to information gathered by the “Tatame” magazine website, UFC 190 aims to feature none other than the champion Ronda Rousey to defend his belt in the country in front of Bethe Correia.

According to the publication, the event will be held at the HSBC Arena, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), which will return to the UFC calendar after two events held at the Maracanãzinho gym. In the list released by the UFC, event number 190 is scheduled for August 1st.

In the past, Ronda Rousey has already shown interest in defending his belt in Brazil in front of Correia. This would be the sixth title defense for the American, who, in her last three fights, achieved lightning victories: she defeated Sara McMann in 1min06s, Alexis Davis in 16s and Zingano cat in 14s.

And the fight would represent a clash between undefeated fighters, as Correia, 31 years old, has nine wins in nine fights as a professional. In the octagon, the Paraíba native defeated Julie Kedzie, Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler – the last two, training partners and friends of Rousey, which made the rivalry between the champion and the Brazilian grow.

In addition to the women's fight, UFC 190 will feature a rematch of a historic fight. Still according to “Tatame”, Mauritius Shogun e Rogério Minotouro They have already agreed on the fight verbally, with only the contract to be signed. The two faced each other in 2005, at the now-defunct Japanese PRIDE event, with Shogun winning after a close fight.
