Current lightweight champion achieved first UFC knockout in stunning fashion in Japan

UFC 185, which will feature a lightweight title fight between Anthony Pettis e Rafael dos Anjos, it is approaching. And, as a warm-up for the long-awaited fight, we remember the overwhelming victory of the current champion of the under-70 kg category against the tough Joe lauzon.

In February 2012, the UFC returned to Japan for its 144th event. Until now, Pettis had not “taken off” in the octagon – a former WEC champion, the North American lost in his debut, against Clay guida, and won Jeremy Stephens by split decision. Against Lauzon, Pettis would have the chance to achieve his first resounding victory, which would launch him back towards the title fight.

And that's exactly what happened. Just a few moments into the fight, Pettis landed a powerful shin to Lauzon's face, which resulted in a knockout. It was another step towards winning the title, which will be defended this Saturday (14), in Dallas, in the United States.
