The fight between the main attractions Brendan Loughnane e Timur Khizriev was the only one of the PFL finals that ended by decision of the judges. The two faced each other in a true five-round war for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) of the organization, which took place this Friday (29), in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Khizriev defeated Loughnane by unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 49-46).

Khizriev was by far the more active fighter in the early going, bombarding Loughnane with kicks. It took about 90 seconds for Loughnane to really start coming on the offensive. The Russian was good at elbow strikes, a new twist in the PFL format, leaving the British fighter badly hurt.
The Russian was in control for most of the fight, with Loughnane trying to correct course but finding little opening. With his face bloodied from injuries to his nose and eyes, the British fighter was unable to muster a reaction. In the third round, Loughnane lost his mouthguard three times.
Even though he was bleeding a lot, the British man was resilient and held on until the end of the fight, but Timur Khizriev was superior and took the PFL featherweight belt.
