An embarrassment in the dispute for the middleweight title (up to 83,9kg) scheduled for February, in Sydney, is the opportunity seen by Caio Borralho to go after the belt. The Brazilian said in a recent interview that he 'deserves' the fight and has already spoken to the UFC about it.

The champion Dricus Du Plessis should be on the UFC 312 card and the Sean Strickland would have agreed with the organization to be the opponent. But the former champion has already publicly expressed his desire to fight in March in the United States, instead of the event in Australia. The reason is the country's taxes, which amount to 45% of the athlete's earnings. This would not be an obstacle for Borralho.
“I told Hunter [Campbell] and Mick Maynard that I knew that people didn’t want to go to Australia because of taxes, because it’s too far away… I’m ready! If they put me in, I think I deserve it, I’ve won seven straight fights, I just had a great fight with Cannonier. I beat him like no one has ever beaten him. If they call me, I’ll go to Australia,” Borralho told 'MMA Today'.
The fighter from Maranhão is undefeated in the UFC since he was hired after winning twice in the Contender Series in 2021. Since then, he has celebrated seven times in the most famous octagon in the world. His career record includes 17 wins, just one loss and one no contest.
