After defending the heavyweight belt with a knockout over Stipe Miocic in the main fight of UFC 309, Jon Jones hinted that, at least for now, he had given up on the idea of retiring from professional MMA. In one of the traditional question and answer sessions with followers on social media, however, the champion once again addressed the possibility of hanging up his gloves as something real.

The interaction between Jon Jones and followers last Thursday (28) began with a motivational message published by the champion related to the 'Thanksgiving' holiday.

“As you enjoy your day, eating junk food, getting drunk and playing video games, just remember: your opponents probably did some kind of work today and are already planning how to conquer 2025. Success is not luck. It is a decision and the discipline to follow through. Happy Thanksgiving!”, wished 'Bones'.

Jones' post generated several types of responses. The most liked of them referred to the fighter with the term 'duck', which in literal translation means 'duck', but also serves as an expression for someone who is a coward, or who runs away from something.

PUBLICITY:

“Sure, call me a duck next year. Eventually Tom will lose within the next two or three fights and my legacy will remain as the greatest MMA athlete of all time. End of story. (…) It’s crazy how being called a coward pays better than what the internet bullies will ever make in a lifetime. Two fights in four years and still one of the biggest names in the sport? That’s not being a coward, that’s winning. God’s blessing hits differently. Your pressure and playground insults don’t hit me the same way at 37,” the champion replied.

Lastly, Jon Jones He assured that the possibility of hanging up his gloves is still real and depends on the progress of his next meeting with the Ultimate.

“I would probably give up the belt before I officially retire. Let’s see how my reunion with the UFC goes,” he concluded.
