Robbie Lawler promises to knock out MacDonald: 'That's always my strategy'

Welterweight champion will grant rematch to Canadian on July 11, at UFC 189

Holder of the welterweight title since December last year, when he beat John hendricks, Robbie Lawler He already has the date, place and opponent defined for his inaugural belt defense. On July 11th, the North American will face the Canadian Rory McDonald at UFC 189, in Las Vegas (USA). For his first appearance as champion, Lawler wants to leave a good impression and promised to adopt his “usual strategy”: go all out and knock out the challenger.

“Rory (MacDonald) is one of the main names in the category and my coaches were saying that we would end up facing him at some point. I think things will be different, but I want the knockout. I'm always looking to finish or knock out my fights. I don't like going to the decision. I always want to submit people, knock them out, beat them and that is always my strategy”, said the champion, in an interview with the North American channel “FOX Sports”.

On that occasion, Lawler achieved his third consecutive victory in the octagon and qualified to compete for the welterweight belt for the first time against John hendricks.
