UFC 187 only has five confirmed fights, but it already promises to be the event of the year in 2015. After announcing the fight for the middleweight belt (up to 84 kg.) between Chris Weidman e Vitor belfort, Ultimate wasted no time and revealed that Jon Jones will put the light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg.) on the line against Anthony Johnson on the same night.

At 27, Jon Jones has a record of 21 wins and only one loss – by disqualification. The champion comes from victory over Daniel Cormier and, shortly after the triumph, he became involved in a great controversy when he was caught in an anti-doping test for cocaine use. Already Anthony Johnson, 30 years old, has a record of 19 wins and four losses. “Rumble”, as he is known, comes from nine consecutive victories.

UFC 187, scheduled for May 23, in Las Vegas, takes place on one of the main dates for the organization. Traditionally, Ultimate promotes big shows on the Saturday before 'Memorial Day', the date on which the United States pays homage to the country's war heroes. The holiday always takes place on the last Monday in May.

More fights

In addition to the two title fights, the UFC 187 fight program already has three confirmed fights. In the lightweight division, the North American Donald Cerrone face the Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov, where the winner will have the chance to fight for the category title. In a similar situation, Joseph Benavidez and John Moraga duel for the possibility of a new chance at the flyweight belt. The other fight announced features heavyweights Travis Browne x Andrei Arlovski.
