The doping case involving Anderson Silva caused great controversy and shock in the MMA community this week. And, in this specific situation, it also caused surprise among the public, since the result of the Brazilian's exam was released 25 days after the samples were collected.

In an exam carried out on January 9th, Anderson Silva had anabolic substances detected in his body, especially dostranolone. The result of the test was only made public on February 3, that is, three days after the Brazilian's fight against Nick Diaz, which was the main attraction of UFC 183. This order of events gave rise to conspiracy theories that the Commission, already aware of the positive test, had purposely waited to release the result only after the fight, thus covering up the Brazilian fighter and guaranteeing the staging of UFC 183.
Nevada Athletic Commission Director Bob Bennett, who He even complained about the delay in publishing the results, ruled out any possibility of having omitted information so as not to harm the UFC. “To think for a second that we would consider doing that – maybe it’s natural for human beings to think that – is ridiculous,” he countered, in an interview with the North American newspaper “LA Times”. “I worked for 24 years at the FBI. Just the thought that someone could make me close my eyes to a positive test, putting someone at risk of getting hurt, that conspiracy theory is… We would never do that,” she concluded.
The executive director of the laboratory responsible for carrying out the tests recently explained the reasons for the delay, stating that the entire process actually takes time.
