The American, who lost in a unanimous decision by the judges, gave details about what happened at the press conference immediately after the fight. “I had an injury before the fight, on my left arm. I even had a cortisone injection and couldn't throw any punches two weeks before the fight. I didn’t throw any punches either in warm-ups in the last few days, or to cut weight,” he said. “But I showed up to fight, it wasn’t a problem. I was worried it would be a problem because every time I threw a punch, my arm would lock up.

To examine the injury, the American said he consulted the same doctor who operated on it. Anderson Silva after the injury he suffered to his leg in December 2013. “I took an x-ray and it told me I had an obstruction in the bone, or a fragment.”

In order to repair the injury, Diaz has not ruled out undergoing surgery. “I don’t know about surgeries. The doctor said I might need it, but I don't think much about it. I'm not into surgery. If I’m not going to punch anyone anymore, why do I need surgery?”, he said.

Diaz reflected on his performance in the fight and pointed out some things he could do differently in the future. “There are some things I regret doing. For example, clowning around in the first round. I'm sure the judges don't like that”, commented the fighter, who, however, criticized the judges because of the score given. “I don’t know what the judges are thinking. I pressed the whole time, but sometimes I don't know how to judge a fight. Sometimes they take the damage into account, sometimes they are the ones who work the hardest…”, he concluded.
