Renato Moicano, once again, delighted fans by master Benoit Saint Denis No. UFC Paris last Saturday (28). The victory by technical knockout, however, could have a high cost for the Brazilian. In a press conference after the Contender Series, Dana White questioned the future of the lightweight (up to 70,3kg) in the octagon.

The director revealed that Moicano fought with a significant shoulder injury and that he aggravated it during the fight. White highlighted that the Brazilian was lucky not to have been prevented from continuing after the break, since the referee and the medical team did not realize the severity of the injury.

“We won’t talk about Moicano for a few more weeks. You saw what happened to him. It was incredible what he was able to do with that injury and sitting in the corner was never a concern. It’s not like they were complaining. And they’re lucky. Because if Saint Denis’ eye wasn’t like that and the doctor went the other way, the fight would have been stopped,” White said.

Renato Moicano's Future in the UFC

After the victory, Moicano challenged big names in the category, such as Dan Hooker e Paddy Pimblett. The Brazilian was looking for, respectively, a spot in the top 5 and a fight with great financial potential. However, the injury could postpone his plans.
