It seems that Dana White has thrown a bucket of cold water on the ambitions of Alex Poatán in moving to boxing. During a recent interview with journalist 'Kevin Iole', the UFC boss said that the current Brazilian light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) is fine where he is and once again emphasized his hatred for crossover fights.
“I don’t know (about boxing). I mean, when you look at where he is right now in his career, he’s at the top of this game, he’s about to break the record (of Ronda Rousey) if he wins the fight on Saturday night, and God knows what other records he can break here. He's 38 years old, which is even more impressive when you add that to everything else," White said.

After years leading the world's largest MMA organization, the UFC president revealed that he is targeting boxing. This excited Poatan, who showed great enthusiasm for the possibility of working with Dana in boxing. However, the Brazilian revealed that he has not yet had that conversation with White, who once again expressed his hatred for crossover fights.
“I’m not even thinking about that kind of thing. I’m not thinking about crossover fights. I hate crossover fights. I respect the fact that he wants to do it. I know there’s tons of other fighters that probably want to do it. But I want everybody to stay in their own lane,” White said.
For now, Poatan is better off focusing on his commitments inside the octagon. This Saturday (5), the Brazilian defends his light heavyweight title (up to 93kg) against Khalil rountree No. UFC 307, which takes place at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States.
