Alex Poatan could break Ronda Rousey's record with third title defense; understand

This Saturday (5), Brazilian can establish the shortest time between three UFC title defenses

Alex Poatán is very close to breaking a new UFC record. This Saturday (5), the Brazilian defends the light heavyweight belt (up to 93 kg) for the third time this year against Khalil rountree in the main fight of UFC 307, in Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. Poatan can set the shortest time between three UFC title defenses at 175 days.

Currently the holder of this record in the UFC is Ronda Rousey, who made three title defenses in 189 days.

And there's more. Poatan could become the seventh fighter to record three UFC title defenses in a calendar year. Frank Shamrock (1998), Tito Ortiz (2001) Matt hugs (2002), Chuck Liddell (2006), Demetrious Johnson (2013) and Kamaru Usman (2021) also achieved the feat.

Poatan's achievements

Poatan's four-fight UFC win streak at light heavyweight is the third-longest active streak in the division, behind Carlos Ulberg (six) and Rountree himself (five), the Brazilian's opponent this Saturday.
