According to reports from the Dekalb County Police Department, reproduced by the website “MMA Junkie”, Dave was traveling on the highway at high speed with his headlights and flashlights off. The fighter then received an order to stop from the officers, but did not obey, starting a police chase that ended a few kilometers ahead at a gas station, where Herman finally stopped his vehicle.

Upon getting out of the car, however, the fighter did not immediately surrender to the officer and allegedly approached the officer in an aggressive manner. According to the official note released by the Police Department, after several warnings, Herman was then controlled with the help of an electroshock gun. In addition to the fighter, a woman and a child were in the car.

At 30 years old, Dave Herman has a professional record of 22 wins and six losses. The heavyweight became known to the Brazilian public after starting an intense rivalry with the Brazilian Rodrigo Minotauro before the duel between them at UFC Rio 3. After spending the weeks leading up to the fight criticizing Minotauro and jiu-jitsu, Herman ended up submitting the legendary former champion with an armbar.
