Durinho ignores rivalry and recognizes that there is no way to underestimate Belal after athlete becomes champion

Brazilian admits that Palestinian had a great performance in duel that defined him as the new welterweight king in the UFC

Victim of the power and skill displayed by Belal Muhammad | in 2023, Gilbert Durinho left rivalry aside and acknowledged that there is no longer any way to underestimate the Palestinian's talent. When commenting on the athlete's conquest of the belt by defeating Leon edwards at UFC 304, the Brazilian praised his performance and highlighted his dominance over the Englishman.

“He had a long preparation period for this fight. I think he was feeding off the fact that the UFC made him wait, Leon made him wait. He was fed up with it, he was very hungry, he worked very hard. You could see he was in great shape. I just thought Leon would do a little better job defending himself. But I still expected to see Belal dominating him with work. Belal looked very good when he became champion. People can’t deny it anymore,” Durinho said in an interview with MMA Fighting.

Winner by unanimous decision of the judges, Belal gave Leon no chance and successfully implemented a strategy of using grappling to control the fight. Undefeated in 10 consecutive fights, the Palestinian expresses his desire to quickly defend his belt and does not shy away from facing names such as Shavkat Rakhmonov ou Kamaru Usman in his next performance.
