Even without fighting in Boston (USA), José Aldo ended up becoming a major character at UFC Fight Night 59, held in the early hours of this Monday (19). After watching the victory of Conor McGregor on Dennis Siver, the Brazilian saw his Irish rival jump out of the octagon, come in front of him and attack him right there. McGregor's unusual challenge or even his performance against Siver, however, did not impress Aldo, who got back at him.

“It's normal for me. He (McGregor) is a joke, he's a jester who just makes me laugh. He said the fight would last two minutes… No disrespect to Dennis Siver, but the fight went past the first round and everything… He got beat up like hell. Calm down…As long as I have my team and my coach by my side, no one will beat me”, said the featherweight champion, in an interview with the North American channel “FOX Sports 1”, shortly after the event.

After returning the attacks, however, the Brazilian recognized McGregor's importance for the category and said that, in addition to the money that the duel against the Irishman should bring him, the rival's presence makes him feel motivated. “This fight will sell a lot, it will be the biggest in history… Even the UFC. Guys like him make the category lively and that's good for the sport, which is growing a lot. Sometimes we can accommodate ourselves. But I never settled down, I never relaxed. Guys like him always motivate me more. I'm still a new champion, I'm 28 years old and I'm very motivated. I can’t wait to get up there and fight,” he assured.

José Aldo, 28 years old, has a professional record of 25 wins and only one loss. The only champion in the history of the Ultimate featherweight category, the man from Manaus has seven successful title defenses and is coming off a victory in his rematch against the North American Chad Mendes in October last year, at UFC Rio 5.
