Approximately a year and a half after hanging up his gloves and announcing his retirement from MMA, Fedor Emelianenko may be about to return to action against an old acquaintance, this time in boxing. According to reports in the Russian press, 'The Last Emperor' is negotiating, at 47 years of age, a rematch against the former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski, with no date or location yet defined. If confirmed, the duel would be organized by RCC Boxing.
Fedor Emelianenko e Andrei Arlovski They first faced each other in January 2009 at Affliction. On that occasion, the Russian legend brutally knocked out the Belarusian 'Pitbull' in one of the most remarkable victories of his legendary MMA career.
The knockout of Arlovski extended Fedor's unbeaten streak to an incredible 27 fights. That streak would last, however, only one more fight before being ended by Fabricio Werdum in June 2010, at Strikeforce.
On the other hand, the defeat to the Russian marked the beginning of a terrible sequence of Andrei Arlovski, who suffered four consecutive defeats. The 'Pitbull', however, would turn things around and return to the UFC in 2014, almost a decade after being the organization's champion. The 45-year-old Belarusian remained in the Ultimate until June of this year, when his contract was not renewed after a new sequence of four negative results.
