The doping controversy involving Jon Jones still resonates with UFC fighters. One of the light heavyweight champion's greatest rivals in recent years, Alexander Gustafson expressed his opinion about the episode, in which Jones was caught in a surprise test with the substance benzoylmethylecgonine, one of the active ingredients in cocaine.

The Swede was disappointed with the result of the exam, as he considers the UFC's elite fighters to be role models for their fans. “It’s bad for the sport and bad for the UFC. We are supposed to be examples, we should be above this kind of thing”, analyzed Gustafsson, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

However, Gustafsson avoided going deeper into the subject, as he is focused on his next fight. On January 24th, in Stockholm, Sweden, the athlete faces Anthony Johnson in the main attraction of UFC on FOX 14. “All the reporters ask me about Jon Jones. All of them. I can't think now of Jon Jones. I have a very dangerous opponent ahead of me,” he stated.

Gustafsson and Jones faced each other at UFC 165, in what was considered the “Fight of the Year” of 2013. After five rounds of intense competition, Jones retained his title with a unanimous decision victory by the judges.
