Gabriel Marretinha guarantees learning from defeat and plans knockout at UFC Denver

In an exclusive interview with SUPER LUTAS, Marretinha spoke about preparing for the fight against Ange Loosa this Saturday (13)

Just over eight months after suffering the first defeat of his career in UFC Sao Paulo, Gabriel Marretinha returns to the octagon this Saturday (13) to face Ange Loosa on the UFC Denver main card. In an exclusive interview with SUPER FIGHTS, the welterweight (up to 77,1 kg) spoke about preparing for the duel and the expectation of turning things around and winning again in the organization.

After impressing with two flash victories at the beginning of his career in the UFC, Gabriel Marretinha ended up coming up against the Danish's durability Nicholas Dalby, against whom he was knocked out in November last year. The Brazilian guarantees that he learned from the setback and promises an even better version in Denver.

“It’s learning. I took it as a learning experience, worked hard, adopted new strategies. It's a new athlete who will enter the octagon this Saturday. You can be sure that the mistakes I made in the last fight will not be made in this fight”, he promised.

With 100% of career victories achieved by knockouts or submissions, Gabriel Marretinha face in Ange Loosa an opponent who, in turn, was never knocked out or submitted. The Brazilian believes, however, in the maxim that 'there is a first time for everything', even though he says he is ready to play for three rounds if necessary.

“I'm prepared to fight all three rounds, but any opportunity he gives me, I'll take it and I'll finish. He's never been knocked out or submitted, but whether he likes it or not, it happens. It could happen on Saturday”, he guaranteed.

Despite having boxing as one of his main specialties, most of Marretinha's victories happened on the ground, including the three won in the UFC octagon, including his stint on the 'Contender Series'. Against Loosa, however, Marretinha dreams of his first knockout in the organization.

“The ideal outcome for me would be a knockout. I’ve never knocked out in the UFC, I’ve only finished, so it would be cool”, he concluded.
