Bellator opens dispute with UFC to sign Brock Lesnar

Franchise president, Scott Coker, guarantees that he does not fear competition from the UFC and hopes to have a heavyweight at his event

Biggest seller of pay-per-view (PPV) packages in UFC history, Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from MMA in 2012 and returned to dedicate himself to WWE, known in Brazil as telecatch. As the deal with the combined fighting show is ending, his return to the Octagon is always desired by the UFC. However, this time, Ultimate will have a big competitor in the fight: Bellator.

Scott Coker, president of Bellator, announced his desire to have Lesnar at his event. “There has not yet been any serious dialogue. But when that time comes, we will be there”, said the director, who guarantees that he has already started contact with the former UFC champion.

“There isn’t a fighter on the planet that we can afford and have access to. I think one of the things we're able to do is bring back the casual fan. These casual fans seemed to have given up on MMA, but names like Ortiz and Bonnar brought them back,” added Coker, recalling the signings of other former UFC fighters.

Brock Lesnar He has a contract with WWE until March 2015 and currently leads five of the 10 biggest PPV sales in UFC history. He hasn't fought since December 2011, when he was knocked out by alistair overeem, after recovering from a serious attack of diverticulitis (inflammation in the large intestine).
