Derek Brunson leaves UFC on FOX 13 at the last minute due to food poisoning

Fighter was cut from fight against Ed Herman just minutes before entering the octagon in Phoenix (USA)

The UFC on FOX 13 preliminary card suffered a last-minute blow. Protagonist of the fifth fight on the schedule alongside Ed Herman, the North American Derek Brunson he felt unwell due to food poisoning and abandoned his fight on Saturday night (13), minutes before stepping into the Octagon. The announcement was made by Brunson himself, through social media.

“I got food poisoning, I vomited three times today and I had a lot of stomach pain. I won't be fighting tonight. I'm sorry, guys. I will be rescheduling the fight soon,” Derek wrote on Twitter. The fighter also apologized directly to his opponent. “I'm ready to reschedule this fight as soon as possible. I'm sorry, Ed Herman. We will reschedule as soon as possible,” he published.

With the absence of Derek Brunson and Ed Herman, the UFC on FOX 13 preliminary card now has just eight fights. In total, the event no longer has 13 scheduled clashes and now only has 12 matches. The Ultimate organization even reported what happened, but did not comment on a possible rescheduling of the duel for a future event.
