Keeping an eye on the intentions and latest statements of Colby covington about welterweight ranking (up to 77,1kg.) Daniel Cormier shows that he is losing patience with his compatriot's attitude. After the athlete provokes Belal Muhammad | and deny a duel against Ian Machado Garry, the commentator sent a sincere message and asked that actions like these be avoided.

“Colby said he thinks Belal Muhammad | he is stuck in his ranking and does not deserve a title fight. Come on, Colby. Colby can't say or try to determine who will fight for the title now, because of the way he lost to Leon edwards and the way he fought. It seems he is not willing to fight with Ian Gary. As he continued speaking, Cormier questioned why Covington denied a crucial duel against Ian Gary.

“I don’t know what the hesitation is to fight with Ian Gary. I don't know if he just doesn't want to fight in the rankings again. But I think he needs to recognize that, in this situation, that's more or less what he's going to get now. He didn’t fight well (against Edwards),” he concluded.

Currently fourth in the category ranking, Colby is coming off a tough defeat against Leon edwards in December 2023. Dominated by the champion for five rounds, the North American wasted another chance to become lineal champion and moved away from an eventual title fight. In a recent statement, the athlete stated that he intends to fight in the second semester.
