On November 15th, Fabricio Werdum won the interim UFC heavyweight belt by beating the New Zealander Mark Hunt In Mexico. Before returning to Brazil, through his social media profiles, Werdum called on the fans to welcome him in Porto Alegre (RS). Werdum's request was granted and the Rio Grande do Sul fans threw a huge party for the new champion upon his arrival at Salgado Filho Airport.
Dozens of fans, especially from Grêmio, the fighter's favorite team, celebrated with Werdum and carried the champion through the airport lobby. Soon after, “Vai Cavalo”, as he is known, paraded in an open car through the streets of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul showing off his UFC belt.
