In March of this year, at UFC 171, John hendricks e Robbie Lawler They fought a real war to define who would be the new champion of the Ultimate welterweight division. The victory went to Hendricks, who prevailed in a tight decision by the judges. Lawler doesn't just have his eye on victory, but on making the duel go more smoothly for his side. “I want to make it a monologue, simple as that. My coaches have done a good job of preparing me for several situations that Johny is very good at. I feel powerful, I'm a much better fighter than last time. I'm stronger, faster and more technically refined. I want to dominate him. I don't intend to have a fight 'back and forth' with Johny”, explained Lawler, in an interview with the North American website “Yahoo Sports”.
Even though the first duel only took place nine months ago, Lawler highlighted that it has evolved a lot since then. “I definitely wasn’t as good as I am today. I improved in several aspects. My coaches have added a lot to my game. They forced me to work on some things to make my arsenal a little bigger,” he detailed.
The fight between Lawler and Hendricks will be the main attraction of UFC 181, which will take place in the city of Las Vegas (USA). The fight will not be the only title fight of the night: in the co-main fight, Anthony Pettis defends the lightweight title for the first time against Gilbert Melendez.
