In the wake of the candidates for the lightweight throne (up to 70,3kg.) UFC, Islam makhachev Now there's one more name to worry about: Max Holloway. The former featherweight champion (up to 65,7 kg), in an interview with journalist Kevin Iole, expressed interest in moving up a category and challenging the current belt holder.
“If I can go there, win and ask for something, I think there are a lot of good fights that can happen for us. One of them, in fact, is the champion (Islam makhachev). I think it would be fun, to be honest,” Holloway said.

Holloway's trajectory in the 70 kg division was not the happiest. In his only appearance, in 2019, he was defeated by Dustin poirier in the fight for the interim title. After the setback, the Hawaiian returned to featherweight, where he collected triumphs against names like Calvin kattar, Yair Rodriguez e arnold allen, consolidating himself as one of the greatest fighters in the history of the category.
