The narrow defeat and consequent loss of the belt to Dricus Du Plessis No. UFC 297, in January, has not yet been well digested by Sean Strickland. Last Thursday (28), the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) used social media to issue a kind of ultimatum for a rematch against the South African.
Em publication on 'X', formerly 'Twitter', Strickland claimed to have been harmed by fighting in Canada and stated that any other Ultimate fighter would be entitled to an immediate rematch under the same circumstances.
“UFC fans want me and Dricus to resolve this. Dricus wants to resolve it. We all know that I fought in a dirty, liberal country that f***ed me. Dana knows this. The UFC knows this. IF IT WAS ANY OTHER FIGHTER IN THE CAST THE REMATCH WOULD HAPPEN! Do the right thing, UFC”, said the former champion.
In response to a follower, Strickland stated that he was not willing to have another long run for a chance to become champion and threatened to leave MMA for boxing if his request was not met.
“You know I’m not climbing this f***ing mountain again. If that's not for me, I don't know, I'll take up boxing. (…) I will make millions by beating Jake Paul, laughs”, wrote the North American.
