Dana White confirms Khamzat Chimaev against UFC icon in Saudi Arabia and guarantees title shot to winner

Months after beating Kamaru Usman, the organization's 'monster' returns to share the octagon against a former Ultimate champion in a decisive fight

End of the mystery. On his social networks, Dana White, president of the UFC, confirmed the fight between Khamzat Shimaev e Robert whittaker as the protagonist of the inaugural event in Saudi Arabia, scheduled for June 22nd. Undefeated in professional MMA, the promise of Ultimate faces a new former champion of the company, months after overcoming Kamaru Usman.

“Our first main fight in Saudi Arabia will be between former middleweight champion, Robert whittaker, against the undefeated Khamzat Shimaev. The fight will define the next challenger for the belt,” said White.

Betting on the future of the UFC, Chimaev faces his first challenge in 2024. Undefeated in 13 appearances in the sport, the fighter could face his first title fight in the company.

Featured in the top 5 middleweights, Whittaker will have another opportunity to regain his lost belt against Israel adesanya, in 2019. The Australian added a recent victory in his last commitment, by overcoming Paulo borrachinha.
