Recovered from a serious leg fracture, Chris Weidman returned to the octagon after more than a year of inactivity after the episode. In a duel against Brad Tavares, the North American admitted that he was surprised by the stance adopted by his compatriot, when he realized that his opponent's biggest target was his leg. According to 'All American' this was not an expected attitude.
“I felt really stupid in the last fight, getting leg kicked to death. After coming back from a traumatic leg injury and everything, we really didn't think he was going to kick his leg like crazy. I watched some fights and I thought he was more of a boxer (who) likes to get in short and throw, throw combinations,” said Weidman in an interview with 'MMA Fighting'.

As he continued speaking, Weidman admitted that he had not studied all the statistics of Brad Tavares.
“We found out he has, I think apparently, the second-most leg kicks in the history of the middleweight division, and we had no idea. I don't want to throw (Ray) Longo (coach) under the bus, but I remember him saying, 'I don't think the guy's a great leg kicker.' When you have a guy who's coming off a traumatic leg injury and (the opponent) is also a leg kicker, it was a good game plan. But, without a doubt, it hindered me. He was smarter than me,” he concluded.
Chosen for a new fight, Chris Weidman performs this Saturday (30) at UFC Atlantic City and faces the Brazilian Bruno Blindado. The confrontation will be held on the main card of the event.
