Days after announcing the four-year suspension of heavyweight Walt Harris, Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD), the successor entity to USADA in UFC anti-doping control, claimed another “victim”. Ultimate featherweight (up to 65,7 kg), Khusein Askhabov was suspended for two years for violations of the anti-doping program.
The suspension was announced by CSAD last Monday (25). According to a statement, Askhabov tested positive for metabolites of the anabolic steroid metandienone, also known as dianabol, in a sample taken outside the competition period in Grozny, in the Chechen Republic, on February 6.

Born in Chechnya and naturalized by the United Arab Emirates, Khusein Askhabov was signed by the UFC after accumulating an incredible 23 victories, mostly in Eastern Europe. The 'Lion', however, suffered the first defeat of his career precisely on his UFC debut, dominated by Jamall Emmers in February last year.
Since then, Askhabov has had three UFC fights cancelled, the last of which was against Daniel Pineda, which would take place in October last year. At the time, the duel was canceled after Askhabov was arrested in Thailand along with his brother Khasan, accused of robbing, kidnapping and torturing a man during a home invasion. The fighter, however, was released from the charges.
