Fired from UFC, Igor Severino would not have received any amount in controversial fight and disqualification

Igor Severino's bite on André Lima's arm during UFC Vegas 89, last Saturday, took a heavy toll on the Brazilian fighter. In addition to being disqualified from the Octagon and fired from the organization, he had his scholarship withheld by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). The information was released by 'MMA Fighting'.

The value of the scholarship was not disclosed, but the Athletic Commission does not usually reveal fighters' salaries. Severino also faces a possible suspension and fine next month.

The bite, considered unprecedented unsportsmanlike behavior in MMA, could result in exemplary punishment. The attitude generated several reactions, including that of Dana White, president of the UFC, who classified the act as “unacceptable” and judged that Igor had lost the “opportunity of a lifetime”.

Shortly after the fight, Mascote immortalized the moment with a tattoo at the site of the bite. The phrase “I got bitten as a bonus”, said by Dana White to him after the fight, was also tattooed around the mark.

The good-natured attitude did not go unnoticed by Dana White. The UFC boss was impressed with the tattoo and decided to double the bonus initially planned from US$25 to US$50.
