Father and coach Amanda ribas, Marcelo Ribas revealed drama in the athlete's preparation for the main fight of UFC Las Vegas 89. In publication in Instagram, the coach admitted that the fighter was affected by dengue about a month before the challenge against Rose namajunas. Despite the balance in last weekend's clash, Minas Gerais was overcome in the judges' decision.
“It was two months of the worst”camp' (training period) that we have already had. Little did we know if Amanda would be able to fight after having dengue fever four weeks before the fight. We didn't do anysparring' and we didn't know how Amanda would arrive for the fight”, wrote Marcelo.

Despite the problems in preparation, Ribas had a close fight against the former strawweight champion (up to 56,7kg). A victory in the flyweight challenge (up to 56,7kg) could bring the Brazilian closer to a title fight.
“I'm very proud of Amanda. At no point did she talk about giving up the fight. Rose namajunas showed what a great champion she is. Now, we will focus on our category, strawweight. Let's get the straws title. Moving to flyweight gave us a lot of experience, fighting the best. Whenever the UFC needs us, we are ready. We will come back much stronger”, he concluded.
A Brazilian standout in women's MMA, Ribas is in the top 15 of two divisions. In both straw and fly, Minas Gerais occupies a place in the top 10.
