Antônio Pezão does not win in farewell and says goodbye to MMA with a draw against former UFC fighter

Brazilian said goodbye to mixed martial arts at age 44 in challenge against Juan Espino

MMA veteran, Antonio Pezão fought the confrontation that should mark his farewell to professional MMA last Saturday (23). Former challenger for the UFC heavyweight belt (up to 120,2kg), the Brazilian went to Spain and faced Juan Espino, who also had a stint in Ultimate. The confrontation between the '40s' ended in a draw.

"Congratulations, Juan Espino, for the beautiful career he had in MMA. The best heavyweight fighter in Spain today has retired. God bless your life from now on. Farewell”, wrote Pezão, in his profile on Instagram.

With the result, Antônio reached the mark of 12 fights without victories, adding appearances in kickboxing, bare-knuckle boxing and MMA. The Brazilian's last positive result came in 2015, when the Tupiniquim knocked out Soa Palelei, still in the company chaired by Dana White.

Former UFC standout, Pezão, 44 ​​years old, began his career in mixed martial arts in 2005. Over his almost 20-year career, the 'giant' accumulated 19 wins, 15 losses and two draws.

The Brazilian's rival in the challenge, Juan Espino leaves the sport at age 43. A representative of Ultimate between 2018 and 2020, the Spaniard had 10 triumphs, two setbacks and one draw in MMA.
