Main target of Tom aspinall in the UFC, Jon Jones He didn't let himself be taken in by the Englishman's friendly and smiling manner and ended up creating an uncomfortable atmosphere when he was approached by his rival. During the Arnold's Festival, held in England, the interim heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg.) met the MMA legend for the first time and was denied when he requested a face-off (see below).
Aware of the Englishman's intentions, Jones prevented the athlete from touching his shoulder, just as he did against Sergei Pavlovich, in order to have an idea of the distance before the confrontation. Without hesitation, the linear champion removed Tom's hand when he felt touch, but avoided causing a fight by the act. After the action, Aspinall suggested a photo, which was quickly accepted by the American, but when he asked for it to be seen in front of the fans, the new star of the division was denied.

Despite the fact, Aspinall left the event satisfied with what had happened. Expecting to face Jones in the future to unify the titles, the Englishman stated that he was answered with 'maybe one day' after asking when the duel would take place with the North American. Currently, both athletes do not have fights scheduled in the organization.
