Brazilian legend returns to competition almost two years after announcing retirement

Almost two years after announcing his retirement from MMA, José Aldo can return to competitions. According to the 'Ag.Fight', Ultimate is negotiating the return of the former featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) to the Octagon. The plan is for the legend to face Jonathan martinez No. UFC 301, on May 4, in Rio de Janeiro.

Considered by many to be the best featherweight in the history of mixed martial arts, Aldo 'hung up his gloves' after his defeat against Merab Dvalishvili, in 2022. At the time, the Brazilian was close to a title fight in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg.).

Chosen to 'welcome' Aldo to MMA, Martinez is going through a great phase in his career. Number 14 in the division rankings led by Sean O'Malley, the combatant has six consecutive victories.

At 37 years old, Aldo has 39 appearances in mixed martial arts. In his career, the Brazilian had 31 victories and eight setbacks.
