Strikeforce and Dream plan joint events

Scott Coker and Keiichi Sasahara

After making a splash by announcing a co-promotion with M-1 Global, Strikeforce looks like it won't stop there. The highlight will be a co-promotion with the Japanese Dream event.

At the conference following Saturday's “Carano X Cyborg” event, Strikeforce director Scott Coker was in conversation with Dream director Keiichi Sasahara. The American top hat confirmed the possibility of a joint event.

PUBLICITY:

“At Strikeforce we are committed to putting together the best fights we can. They have great fighters in Dream, and we will be able to promote fights between the best in Dream and the best in Strikeforce. I believe we will be in Japan doing a co-promotion soon”, he said. Coker also explored possible confrontations for this event.

“I would love to see Shinya Aoki (Dream lightweight champion) face Josh thomson or Gilbert Melendez. I would also like to see Melvin Manhoef against Robbie Lawler.” , Coker said.

PUBLICITY:

The details have not yet been agreed, however it appears that no financial or restrictive obstacles have been a problem, as well as the agreement signed with M-1 for the arrival of Fedor Emelianenko. Sasahara simply defined it as an “alliance that will allow fighters from both organizations to come and go.”
