At the 'media day' of the event that takes place this Saturday (17), 'Triple C' said that he has already informed his team that, if he doesn't beat Merab Dvalishili, he will retire from MMA again.

“And I already say this to my team… it’s all or nothing. I told the team, 'It's either gold or bust.' Either I get it all, or I won't get it all and I'm out. I'm putting this timeline, this pressure on myself, because I take this sport seriously. I did everything there was to do. What, what do I have to prove? Now it's a motivation driven by a little anger. I’m a little upset with myself, but I’m still motivated,” Cejudo said.

Cejudo's first retirement took place in 2020, when the American crashed Dominick Cruz and successfully defended the bantamweight belt for the first time. The return of 'Triple C' took place in May 2023 against the then current bantamweight champion aljamain sterling. Cejudo's return to the octagon was not successful and the Olympic wrestling champion was defeated in a split decision by the judges by the 'Funk Master'.
