In preparation for an unprecedented career change, aljamain sterling shocked fans when he was photographed alongside Alexander Volkanovsky during training at the UFC Performance Institute. Former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg.) and heading to featherweight (up to 65,7kg.) 'Funk Master' appears to have a larger and more muscular physique during the division transition (see below).
In response to the publication of the photo on 'X' (old Twitter), internet users reacted impressed with the former champion's physical change.
“Incredible that Sterling was just one division lower,” said one follower.
“Sterling would have sent that idiot (Volkanovski) to the shadow realm if they had fought,” commented one account.

Willing to venture into a new category, aljamain sterling demonstrated insecurity before confirming transition. At the time, the athlete feared a possible physical disadvantage compared to other featherweight athletes. Despite his fears, the fighter was inspired by Deiveson Figueirando leaving the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg) and having success in the bantamweight division.
Escalated to UFC 300, Sterling will debut in the category reigned by Volkanovski on April 13. To welcome you, Calvin kattar was chosen. Currently, the former bantamweight champion appears as a slight favorite in the bookmakers and expresses confidence for the duel that will take place at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas (USA).
