After announcing the hiring of Kayla harrison, with its premiere scheduled for UFC 300, Dana White went public to reassure fans and the MMA community regarding the two-time Olympic champion and former PFL champion's ability to beat the bantamweight limit (up to 61,2 kg), the category in which she will face Holly holm. The Ultimate president's arguments, however, do not seem to have convinced everyone.

In an interview with the 'SiriusXM' channel on YouTube, the former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate revealed that she was surprised by the news that Kayla harrison would debut in the UFC at bantamweight and questioned the ability of her compatriot, accustomed to fighting at lightweight (up to 70,3 kg), to remain competitive with such a weight cut.

“When I saw that it would be at bantamweight I was in shock, because Kayla harrison She begged for a lightweight division in the PFL and got it and I think she was doing great there. She has been incredible. I know she hit 66 kg before and I think it was difficult for her. I think that weighing 61 kg will suck her vital energy and it’s not the best move”, said the former champion.

Tate's opinion is not based solely on external factors, but rather on his own personal experience. Former bantamweight champion, the North American recently ventured into flyweight (up to 56,7 kg), but after a defeat to Lauren Murphy, chose to return to its original category.

“I think I'm speaking based on my personal experience, because when I moved down to flyweight, even though I had a pretty decent training camp, I just didn't perform at my best. I think Kayla is used to being a big, strong woman and won't have that going for her. I'm really curious to see how this might benefit her against someone like Holly holm, who moves so well. She has some of the best footwork in the women's divisions and I think this is going to be difficult for Kayla. I'm excited for Kayla. I think her coming to the UFC will be really good, but if you ask me who I think will win this fight, looking at it now, I would say Holly holm”, Finished.

Kayla harrison e Holly holm face each other in the stars UFC 300, which takes place on April 13th, at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, in the United States. With no main fight confirmed yet, the event already has two title fights: Weili Zhang defending the strawweight title (up to 52,1 kg) against yan xiaonan, and Justin gaethje defending the BMF belt against Max Holloway. Furthermore, the card features big names like Charles of the Bronx, Arman Tsarukyan, aljamain sterling, Deiveson Figueiredo, cody garbrandt e Jim Miller.
