With no events this weekend, it is possible to say that January has come to an end for MMA. Even with just two UFC events in the first month of the year, mixed martial arts fans were able to witness some moments in the octagon, including memorable knockouts.
With that in mind, the team at SUPER FIGHTS listed the three best knockouts of January in the UFC Octagon. Let's go to the list:
3- Nikolas Motta x Tom Nolan – UFC Las Vegas 84
Opening the list, in third place on the podium of best knockouts in January, the Minas Gerais native from Governador Valadares Nikolas Motta surprised the favorite and until then undefeated Tom Nolan with a beautiful knockout on the preliminary card of the UFC Las Vegas 84, first event of the year.
The underdog in the bookmakers, Nikolas knocked his rival down with a straight right and completed the job with devastating ground and pound.
2- Brunno Hulk x Phil Hawes – UFC Las Vegas 84
On the main card of the same event, Brunno Hulk made good on his nickname and 'crushed' the North American phil hawes.
In the final stretch of the first round, the Curitiba native stunned the North American with a knee and followed up with jabs and heavy rights until 'erasing his rival', complete with three sledgehammers.
1- Magomed Ankalaev x Johnny Walker – UFC Las Vegas 84
In first position, guess what? Yes, we continue in UFC Las Vegas 84. This time, however, the Brazilian in question finds himself on the wrong side of the knockout.
In the main fight of the event, Magomed Ankalayev liquidated Johnny Walker with a brutal right, completing with another accurate right blow with the Brazilian already on the ground, and took the award for best knockout of the month of January in the SUPER FIGHTS.
