The former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.) UFC, Chris Weidman, made a surprising statement about the new light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.), Alex Poatán. The North American, who is considered one of the great names in the history of the division and has already beaten names like Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida e Vitor belfort, stated that the Brazilian will be considered one of the greatest fighters of all time, thanks to his victory over Israel adesanya.
In an interview with The Weekly Scraps, Chris Weidman praised Poatan's trajectory and performance and said that, in the future, the former GLORY champion will also be remembered as one of the best in history.

“Alex Pereira (Poatan), because of Adesanya, got a ride. He didn't face any fighters or anything. Your record (in MMA)? 9-1 or 9-2? Now he will be considered one of the greatest fighters of all time. He is a champion. Like, this is kind of crazy,” Weidman said.

Alex Poatán, 36 years old, is considered one of the best strikers in the world, with a record of nine wins and two losses in MMA. At the UFC, the São Paulo native had a meteoric rise, needing just seven fights to be the first Brazilian man to hold the middleweight (up to 83,9kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93kg) belts. The fighter has gone through names like Israel adesanya, Jan Blachowicz, Jiri Prochazka e Sean Strickland.
Before arriving in MMA, Pereira was world kickboxing champion for ‘GLORY’, having faced names like Artem Vakhitov, Simon Marcus and Jason Wilnis.
