Victim of a harsh defeat to Dricus Du Plessis No. UFC 290, Robert whittaker opened the game and recalled the confrontation against the South African. A big favorite at the bookmakers, the Australian was unable to prevail against his rival and was brutally knocked out in the first round. Aware that the athlete has become the new middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), the veteran regretted not having prepared adequately for the duel.

“Dricus is on a list of people I want to rematch, but seeing his fight made me realize that I didn't prepare properly for him. I didn't give him the respect he deserves. I understood that he was a really tough fighter, but I guess I didn't understand how tough and strong and hungry he really was and out of respect for that, I won't make that mistake again,” Robert said on his podcast.
