Andre Tadeu won the main fight of WOCS 38

WOCS 38 raised public awareness in the city of Ubá, in the interior of Minas Gerais, this Saturday (18). In the main fight of the night, André Tadeu submitted Wellington Vicente and got even closer to fighting for the lightweight title against current champion Giovanni Diniz. In the second most important fight of the night, host Eder Bambu submitted Alex Junius at middleweight.

Tadeu can challenge title after sixth straight victory

Under much expectation, the experienced André Tadeu, 38 years old, had his second Wocs main duel in less than three months, packed with five victories, against an opponent who accepted the fight with just over a week in advance. Tadeu, from TFT/ATS, attacked Wellington Vicente at the beginning of the fight, but the PRVT athlete improved in the duel and maintained his balance in the first round. At the beginning of the second round, with just 42 seconds left, Tadeu took advantage of an oversight by Vicente and secured a tight rear-naked choke to achieve his third victory at Wocs. He should have the chance to challenge the champion of the lightweight category (up to 70kg) in 2015.

“I thank the city of Ubá, these guys who gave me all the support to get here and win. And I would also like to congratulate Wellington, who accepted the fight at the last minute, he is a boy and fought a very tough fight. Now I’m going in search of the belt”, said André Tadeu.

Eder Bambu raises the Ubá fans

Host Eder Bambu achieved his eighth career victory, fourth in a row, by defeating Alex Junius via submission. With his name loudly shouted by the fans, the TFT/ATS athlete dominated the entire fight until landing a beautiful hand triangle in the second round and submitting his opponent to the delight of the audience.

“I'm at home, I would never lose here. Fighting in my city is a great source of pride, I want to thank this wonderful audience. I managed to bring this crowd that supported me a lot and I want to let everyone know that this is just the beginning of a very successful trajectory in MMA, you can write”, celebrated Bambu.
