In an interview with Yahoo Sports, Cameroonian Romeau Thierry Sokoudjou stated that his parents, who live in Cameroon, do not know that he is an MMA fighter. The family believes that he is studying Computer Science and training judo at the University.
The judoka was on the Cameroon Olympic team in 2004, however, he was unable to compete in the games as he did not have a visa granted to Australia. For Sokoudjou, this was the biggest heartbreak of his fighting career
At the end of the interview, the reporter asks if, eventually, the family finds out about his career as an MMA athlete, but the Cameroonian says that the reporter can go ahead and write the article, as long as he doesn't write in French, and promises the family that He will go back to school and graduate as soon as he gets the chance.
