Weidman reflects on his physical condition and admits that the fight against Blindado could be the last of his career

Climbed to return to where it all began, Chris Weidman He is preparing, perhaps, his last fight in his successful career. At 39 years old, the North American reflected on his physical conditions and did not rule out retiring after facing Bruno Blindado at an event taking place in Atlanta (USA). At a delicate moment in his career, ‘All American’ will be performed on March 30th.

“This could be my last fight. I'll make that decision as I prepare for the fight and see how I feel. If my body can handle hard training again, it might be the last, it might not be,” Weidman said in an interview with Daniel Cormier.

Defeated to Brad Tavares In his last appearance, Weidman stated that he was unsure if he would return to the Octagon afterwards.

“Honestly, I wasn’t sure (if I would fight again). I'm preparing for the future and I wasn't sure. I was kind of listening to my body and trying to get healthy. Mentally, motivationally and technically, I still think I'm the best in the world, but my body is just taking a beating,” she explained.

Despite not being invited to numbered events as usual, Chris explained the importance of performing in Atlanta.

“The reason I even took this fight very quickly, it didn't even matter who it was, because it was offered in Atlanta. That's where I started my career because, at the time, MMA wasn't legal in New York. So the guys from New York had to fight in 'Ring of Combat' in Atlanta, New Jersey, and so I think it would be really cool to go back to where it all started and see how I feel and go from there.”

In preparation for an electrifying duel, Weidman and Blindado will face each other on March 30, at the Boardwalk Hall arena. The confrontation will be valid in the middleweight category (83,9kg.) and both fighters are looking to return to the path of victories.
